Kitchener in Bloom

Every year, we celebrate the gardening efforts of Kitchener residents who help to make our city a greener, more vibrant and more sustainable place to live.

Kitchener in Bloom

From May to September, we encourage residents to recognize a neighbour who makes the most of their outdoor spaces and helps grow community pride in Kitchener.

Starting in May, you can pick up a package from your local community centre to personally recognize your neighbour and their gardens.

Types of gardens

We celebrate all types of gardening, including balcony gardens, community gardens, container gardens, fairy gardens, flower gardens, pollinator patches, vegetable gardens, rain gardens, raised gardens and rock gardens.

Garden Parties

In partnership with local community gardeners, the city’s Love My Hood Community Garden program and the Kitchener in Bloom garden recognition program, residents are invited to join us for a neighbourhood garden party this summer!

Enjoy a glass of lemonade and cookies, explore the gardens, take part in family-friendly activities, and learn more about the gardening programs. All ages are welcome.

The Kitchener in Bloom garden party events this summer will take place, weather permitting, as follows:

  • date:  Saturday, June 6
  • time:  10 a.m. to noon
  • location: Pioneer Park Community Garden

  • date:  Saturday, August 8
  • time:  1 to 3 p.m.
  • location: Queens Green Community Garden
