Register for secure bike parking
If you ride your bike downtown, consider parking it in one of our parking garages for free. Our secure bike parking will protect your bike from weather and reduce the potential for theft or vandalism.
You can register online or in person (book an appointment to plan your visit) to get access to our bike cages. If you have any questions, send us an email or call 519-741-2200 ext. 7374.
After you apply, we will process your application and contact you to set up a time for you to pick up your fob from our transportation staff at City Hall. You can also book an appointment to pick up your fob.
When you pick up your pass, we will collect a $10 fee. We only accept cash payment. We will also ask to see government-issued photo ID to verify your identity.
How to use secure bike parking
- register online or in person, then pick up your security pass at City Hall
- swipe your security pass at the bike parking entrance gate to enter
- lock your bicycle to the racks provided (we recommend using a U lock and cable lock)
As our bike parking areas are in secure parking garages, security staff monitor them regularly.
Remember to read our full terms and conditions. If you have any questions, send us an email or call 519-741-2200 ext. 7374.

Bike parking at events
If you’re heading to an event in the summer, use our free BikeCheck service to keep your bike safe. Think of BikeCheck like a coat check for your bike. We will add available events to this page. Subscribe to this page or our Bike Kitchener newsletter to get a notification when we add a new event.
If you want to join us as a BikeCheck volunteer this summer, send us an email!
How to use BikeCheck
- find our BikeCheck area and volunteers
- trade your bike for a ticket (you will need this ticket to claim your bike after the event)
- we will tape the matching ticket to your bike to identify it as yours
- a volunteer will park your bike
- go enjoy the event!
- when you’re ready to leave, give the volunteer your ticket and they will retrieve your bike
When you use BikeCheck, you can leave your accessories with your bike. Staff and volunteers will always be watching the bikes.
You must pick up your bike within 15 minutes of the event ending. For example: if the event ends at 4 p.m., you must pick up your bike before 4:15 p.m.
Terms of use
- you MUST receive a claim stub to have your bikes and/or accessories parked by BikeCheck
- only BikeCheck team members are allowed in the parking area
- locks are not part of the BikeCheck system; the station is enclosed and secure
- a valid BikeCheck claim stub must be presented to access a parked bike, or any of its accessories during or after the event
- we are fully insured while the BikeCheck is in operation, however the accessories are left at the risk of the owner
- bikes must be picked up 15 minutes after the event's completion or otherwise posted latest time
Request a bike rack
If you think an area needs more bike parking, you can request a city bike rack. Fill out our online form to tell us where you want to see a bike rack in the future. We'll review all requests, but will prioritize locations in high-demand areas like commercial districts, parks, recreation centres and libraries.
