This evening, Kitchener Fire crews responded to an apartment fire at King Street West. The call came in at approximately 6:15 p.m. The three-storey building includes a vacant commercial unit on the main floor and residential units on the second and third floors. Six trucks attended the scene. The fire has been extinguished and crews are ventilating the building due to heavy smoke conditions.
This afternoon, Kitchener Fire crews responded to a house fire at Oldfield Drive in the Station 3 area, near Ottawa Street North and Lackner Boulevard. The call came in just before 5 p.m., with reports of a fire in the attached garage of a single-family detached backsplit home.
This afternoon, Kitchener Fire crews responded to a call at a triplex on Guelph St, with reports of smoke coming from the attic roof area. Seven trucks attended the scene.
Eight residents have been displaced and support has been provided. One civilian was taken to hospital as a precaution and there are no fire fighter injuries.
Late this afternoon, Kitchener Fire crews responded to a call on Madison Ave at an unoccupied building scheduled for demolition. Due to the building’s condition, crews operated defensively until the fire was fully extinguished and under control.
No civilian injuries have been reported. An investigation is ongoing and damage estimates are not available.
This evening, Kitchener Fire (KFD) responded to residential structure fire HollyRidge Cr. in Kitchener. Six fire trucks were dispatched to the scene. The fire started in the garage with only smoke migrating into the residence. Damage estimates are estimated at up to $150,000. There are no structural concerns.
Earlier this morning, Kitchener Fire (KFD) responded to a two-storey garage/shed fire located at Vanier Drive in Kitchener. The call came in at approximately 4:40 a.m., and four fire trucks were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, crews encountered an active fire within the structure and began suppression efforts.
At 11:15 p.m. on March 2, 2026, Kitchener Fire responded to a fire at a single-family home on Denlow Street. The fire appears to have started in the attic with the cause being an electrical fire.
Earlier today, Kitchener Fire (KFD) responded to a fire at an automotive and tire shop located on McIntyre Drive in Kitchener. Multiple fire crews were dispatched and arrived on scene to find a fire within the commercial structure. Crews worked quickly to bring the fire under control.
Earlier this morning, Kitchener Fire (KFD) responded to a call for a residential structure fire at Elmsdale Drive. The fire originated in a bedroom on the upper floor of the home. Multiple fire crews were dispatched and arrived quickly on scene to bring the situation under control.
Just before midnight, Kitchener Fire (KFD) responded to a multiple-vehicle fire at an eight-storey apartment building located at York Street, behind WRHN @ Midtown (formerly Grand River Hospital). The call was received at 11:57 p.m. The fire originated in the underground parking garage, starting with a gas-powered vehicle and spreading to three adjacent vehicles. The fire is now out and under control.
