  • Victoria Park skating rink closed - February 17, 2026

    Due to warmer temperatures, the ice rink at Victoria Park is temporarily closed. Please do not skate on the rink to help maintain the condition of the remaining ice. We hope to reopen the rink once cooler temperatures return.

  • Speaker series event explores innovative methods to improve business profitability

    The City of Kitchener, in collaboration with the Waterloo Region Small Business Centre (WRSBC), hosts a free monthly speaker series called SDG Talks. The series explores the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and how we can create a more socially and environmentally sustainable planet. This year’s theme, Purpose and Profit, focuses on helping businesses embed sustainability into their core operations and strengthen their bottom line while creating meaningful community impact.   

  • Kitchener Fire Department: Major incident report – February 13, 2026

    Just before midnight, Kitchener Fire (KFD) responded to a multiple-vehicle fire at an eight-storey apartment building located at York Street, behind WRHN @ Midtown (formerly Grand River Hospital). The call was received at 11:57 p.m. The fire originated in the underground parking garage, starting with a gas-powered vehicle and spreading to three adjacent vehicles. The fire is now out and under control.

We extend our deepest condolences to everyone impacted, including those who have lost loved ones, those who have been injured, the students and staff at Tumbler Ridge High School, and the wider British Columbia community.
