  • City of Kitchener launches planning process for 2027–2030 Strategic Plan

    The City of Kitchener has started gathering community feedback to inform its 2027–2030 Strategic Plan. 

    The Strategic Plan sets Council’s priorities, goals and actions for each four‑year term. The upcoming plan will build on the success of the current 2023–2026 Strategic Plan and carry forward Kitchener’s long‑term vision of “building a city for everyone where, together, we take care of the world around us – and each other.” 

    Early insights from a statistically significant community survey led by Abacus Data signal the strengths, opportunities and priorities residents have for the City for the next four years. Abacus Data surveyed 861 Kitchener residents using a mix of phone and online methods. Survey insights will be presented during a Special Council meeting on May 4, 2026.

  • Splash into summer with a Kitchener summer splash pass

    Start planning your summer early, and you can swim all summer for one great price. The City of Kitchener announces the return of its Summer Splash Pass, making recreational swimming affordable for Kitchener residents of all ages this summer.  

    Make a splash with a Summer Splash Pass, valid at all indoor and outdoor City of Kitchener pools, including Kiwanis Park. The swim pass is valid for Recreational Swim programs, for all ages, including Public Swim, Family Swim, Women Only Swim, and Be U Open Swim. Swim admission guidelines apply.

    Together with our community partners and organizations, we'll be celebrating Youth Month, with free events for youth ages 12 to 24 and opportunities that shine a spotlight on youth and everything they bring to our community.

  • Kitchener proudly celebrates Youth Month

    The City of Kitchener values and appreciates youth across the city and has dedicated the entire month of May to celebrating them. Kitchener youth, ages 12 to 24, can join local events, workshops, and recreational activities, free of charge, during Youth Month from May 1 to 31. It is also an opportunity for young people to share ideas, try new things and participate in community life.

    Breithaupt Centre Pool is currently closed due to a mechanical issue. All impacted customers will be contacted and receive an account credit. While the pool is closed, the building remains open for regular land-based programming.

  • Kitchener in Bloom program launches this Friday

    Springtime is upon us, and neighbourhoods across Kitchener are beginning to bloom. The Kitchener in Bloom neighbourhood garden recognition program shows appreciation for residents' efforts to make our city a more beautiful, sustainable and greener place to live.  

    To kick off this year’s Kitchener in Bloom, the City of Kitchener is offering free seed packs at all community centres starting this Friday, May 1, 2026 (one seed pack per family), while supplies last. Simply stop by your community centre to pick up your seed pack and start planting a flower bed, pollinator garden, balcony planter, vegetable patch, or community garden.
