The City of Kitchener is urging residents to take precautions to reduce the risk of flooding on their properties as a major snow melt approaches. While City staff are actively working to safeguard areas most vulnerable to flooding, homeowners can also take several steps to protect their properties.

The City of Kitchener is cancelling the current snow event effective 4 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026. The street parking ban will be lifted once the snow event is cancelled.
The City of Kitchener has declared a snow event. Residents have until 9:00 p.m. Thursday, January 1, 2026 to remove their parked cars from city streets. This helps ensure our plows and snow clearing equipment are able to effectively and efficiently clear snow from roadways across the city. The parking ban will remain in effect for 24 hours. Overnight parking exemptions are cancelled to allow for snow clearing.

A snow event was declared for 11:59 p.m. on Monday, December 29 based on credible weather forecast information. This snow event has now been extended until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31. This helps ensure that staff operating plows and snow clearing equipment are able to effectively and efficiently clear snow from roadways across the city.
