The City of Kitchener has declared a snow event. Residents have until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2026, to remove their parked cars from city streets. This helps ensure our plows and snow clearing equipment are able to effectively and efficiently clear snow from roadways across the city.
This morning, Kitchener Fire (KFD) responded to a call at a mixed-use building at Queen Street South and Charles Street East. The fire is believed to have started in a second-storey apartment in the building. Six trucks were dispatched. The fire is now out and under control.

Late this afternoon, fire crews responded with five trucks to a house fire at Calais Place. The home is a semi‑detached, split‑level residence consisting of four levels.
The City of Kitchener is cancelling the current snow event effective 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026. The street parking ban will be lifted once the snow event is cancelled.
The City of Kitchener is asking residents to exercise patience and travel according to current weather and road conditions. Frequent weather events have required crews to be deployed repeatedly and for extended periods, placing pressure on both staff and resources. Despite these challenges, the City remains committed to maintaining safe and reliable winter road services that meet Ministry of Transportation standards.
The City of Kitchener has declared a snow event. Residents have until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2026 to remove their parked cars from city streets. This helps ensure our plows and snow clearing equipment are able to effectively and efficiently clear snow from roadways across the city. The parking ban will remain in effect for 24 hours. Overnight parking exemptions are cancelled to allow for snow clearing.
This morning, crews responded to a fire in a two storey, semi-detached home on Roberts Cres. Five trucks were on scene. There are no civilian or firefighter injuries and the fire is not being treated as suspicious. The two residents of the home will be displaced due to the fire and required restoration.
